Checkout 9 inspiring things we learnt from Mark Zuckerberg during his visit to Lagos

He arrived Nigeria on the 30th of  august and is meeting with a few key players in the Nigerian tech world to discuss how Facebook can be improved in Nigeria, and how it can support tech development in Africa.
Here are 9 things we learnt from the Billionaire Business Guru’s Question and Answer session with the key payers in the tech world.

1. “ Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough
No, he is not encouraging those with a penchant for breaking stuff in the anger to carry on doing so as if it is normal behaviour. It is not! He is basically saying, challenge the norm; don’t acknowledge limitations or in Naija lingo
Never ever stay in your lane . Forge new tracks for your own lane.
2. “ The question I ask myself like almost every day is, ‘Am I doing the most important thing I could be doing?’”
Valid question. Are you? No, not Mark Zuckerberg; we know he’s pretty much figured that out. Are you dear reader, doing the most important thing you could be doing with your life, your abilities, your passions for yourself and society? Wait. Don’t answer just yet- think on these things.
3. “People don’t care about what you say; they care about what you build.”
He said it, not I. Actions speak louder than words. You cannot keep mouthing off with no evidence to show for it. Take time to build; invest in the foundation of your building, your systems, your relationships. A house built upon the sand will crumble.
4. “The biggest risk is not taking any risk.”
There is nothing else to add. Res ipsa loquitur
5. “Simply put: we don’t build services to make money; we make money to build better services.”
Perspective. Perspective. Perspective. Think, why do you do what you do? Why are you in business? To make profit, to solve problems, make a difference, what? Let your motive be right.
6. “I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.”
Thank you, O Wise One. People, when a dozen projects are dropped in your lap with an impossible timeline, MZ says start with what’s easier. If you begin a Start-up, and a million things are calling for your attention at the same time, the trick: do what’s easier first.
7. “The Hacker Way is an approach to building that involves continuous improvement and iteration. Hackers believe that something can always be better, and that nothing is ever complete.”
Innovate. Create. Try new things. Stay ahead of the curve. Stay ahead of the competition. That’s how electricity was discovered. It’s how the internet came to be. It’s how drones and other new technology were made. Believe in your crazy ideas.
8. “We look for people who are passionate about something. In a way, it almost doesn’t matter what you’re passionate about.”
Passion is the fuel that drives the mission. Find your passion and plug it into something.
9. “You are better off trying something and having it not work and learning from that than not doing anything at all.”
Loose the fear of failure. It’s a noose around your neck. Do it afraid.

5 signs you and your partner are compatible

Compatibility in relationships is very important. Believe it or not, compatibility should be of more priority than love when it comes to relationships.
If you have a list of things you want in your spouse, he/she can check all the boxes when it comes to physical attributes, but not behavioral.

5.You can tolerate each other’s flaws.
No man is perfect! That’s true, but as humans, some things are easily ignored than others. Never be in a relationship with the mindset that you can change all the habits you cannot tolerate.
Identify the habits you can live with and the kinds you cannot tolerate.
“To be great partners, you cannot expect perfection. Everyone has their quirks and flaws, and to be healthy together you need to make sure you see these imperfections as endearing. Marriages break up over an accumulation of ‘small stuff.’ Do what you can to love unconditionally,” says Sherrie Campbell a licensed psychology.

4.You share the same core values.
If you share the same core values, then making decisions for your partner in his/her absence would never be an issue. This is because all decisions made would be guarded by those values.
If integrity and honesty is your watchword, you word never do anything to jeopardize it.
According to Clinical psychologist and sex and relationship therapist, Megan Flaming, sharing the same values is like having the same inner compass.
“When the going gets tough, like it does in all relationships, knowing that you share the same core values makes difficult decisions easier because you both have the same inner compass. Core values are the foundation of a strong relationship.”

3.You are comfortable sharing your dark secrets with your spouse.
No secrets between compatible couples. No matter how bad the situation is you know the right moment to let them in.
According to Clinical Pyschologist, Ryan Howes, compatible couples share details of both the good and bad news together. They cheer other; they feel safe in each other’s hands.
“Got a promotion? Won the lottery? No cavities? Your ideal partner will be the person who will be your biggest cheerleader and want to celebrate these victories without jealousy or scorekeeping. But also, in every life a little rain must fall. Compatible partners feel safe enough to splash in the puddles with one another. It takes a great deal of trust to disclose vulnerable, painful elements of your life to someone so important to you, but the strongest couples can withstand this strain and provide support while working toward a solution. If you can’t let your significant other help you when you’re down, how close are you, really?”.

2.You have a similar definition of fun.
Compatible couples need to have similar ideas on the word fun. Communicate your sexual fantasies, type of adventures you would love to have etc.
According to Sherry Campbell, couples who play together, stay together.
“People who play together stay together. Healthy couples are great playmates and enjoy being active together. Being active is a time to be best friends, to be outside and to be together.”

1.You are committed to growing together.
Compatible couples are committed to the relationship.
According to Clinical psychologist and sex and relationship therapist, Megan Flaming, the happiest couples are committed to their own respective growth.
“The man or woman you marry today will not be the same person in a year, five years or ten years. The happiest couples are those committed to their own respective personal growth as well as their growth as a couple. Your relationship is a place to heal any unfinished business from childhood.” Megan Fleming

BUSTED! See How This Lady Was Caught Lying About Her Graduation

One thing people should always note when they want to tell lies on Social media is the fact that there will always be people who have all the time in the world to point out your lie for you… Hehe. So you’d better structure your lie well before you make a total fool of yourself…
This twitter user shared a photo of herself wearing a ‘supposed‘ graduation robe and cap and shared it on twitter – saying despite the fact that she has a criminal record and people said she won’t make it in life, she still did!

Well, a tweep who has time in his hands did his homework on the photo and discovered some things were not right with the tweet – Ph.D graduates don’t wear standard caps & gowns,
Yale University caps and robes are black not blue!

They also noted the date on the cap and the date she made the tweet. Savage!

Hilarious 22 Pidgin Proverbs And Their Meanings You Should Know

The Nigerian pidgin English has become Nigeria’s unofficial language. Almost every Nigerian has come to accept and love it as part of their identity. A Nigerian who doesn’t speak pidgin well is almost like an outcast. “Pidgin” or “Brokin” as it is commonly referred to has proverbs just like Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo language. 14 lessons every rapper can learn from that controversial Modenine article

Modenine is the poster boy for gritty, hardcore hip hop that is a seemingly lost art in Nigerian music these days. It’s not hard to see why: he is the most lyrically proficient emcee to ever bless the mic on this side of the Sahara – and I daresay, on the entire African continent.

Below are 14 important points you should see.

1. ‘At 41 years old and on his fifth studio album, there’s no reason Modenine should still be the ‘Underground King’ he referenced on Alphabetical Order (2013).’
2. Modenine’s curse: his skill-set is an orphan in an environment that screams loudly for something entirely different.
3. Only Modo is standing in the way of this happening. True greatness ought to know when to stoop to conquer. Modenine does not.
4. They say imitation is the best form of flattery; no one has flattered Modenine by imitating his style.
5. The audience doesn’t hate him; the audience just doesn’t get him like it gets other pop acts.
6. Modenine has not achieved mainstream success like Jay Z, neither has he had any major influence on the Nigerian music scene, like Don Jazzy in shaping Nigerian urban music
7. It takes away from his accomplishment that for all his brilliance, he cannot find a way to merge commercial success with his famed lyricism.
8. People who still hold Mode in high esteem only do that for sentimental reasons.
9. Modenine is the poster boy for gritty, hardcore hip hop that is a seemingly lost art in Nigerian music these days.
10. Perhaps Modenine’s greatest undoing, and a gaping chink in his otherwise gleaming armour, is his inability – or worse blatant refusal – to adapt and evolve.
11. Modenine has fallen just short of achieving true greatness. I will attempt to share why.
12. Modenine’s fan base is quite small and it’s not necessarily because the larger audience is unsophisticated- it is because the rapper’s lines are simply not resonating with them.
13. Mode’s second issue: he’s making music that nobody actually demands or wants. It is a cardinal rule of hip hop that your lyrics match your realities and that of the audience.
14. Modenine has proven to be a clever wordsmith, often spitting rhymes that practically fly over the listeners’ heads.

“Lill Kesh is not my boy, likewise Viktoh too, they are all my brothers, we are family. They are suppose to live their lives, not supposed to be enslaved. This is no colonial era, this is 2000 and f**king sixteen”.
“Democracy has taken over, not a military era. These guys suppose to live their dreams, if you want to show people love, show them, support them, don’t do it for one or two things because you want to hold them down. I am just supporting my guys, support in people I believe in. let them leave their dream, do what they want to do”.

THE STAGED FUNAAB PROTEST THAT LEAD TO VIOLENCE : THE TRUTH AND CONDEMNED LIES

17th Aug.....
There was a robbery incident on Wednesday night at Adejoke Hostel, It's very close to the school gate. One of our students was matched on his head while the robbery was ongoing. The robbery cases have been occurring since the beginning of the 1st semester. These robbers were always armed and could raid up to 3hostels before the arrival of the policemen

When the students got tired of being robbed during the first semester, a protest was made at isolu and it went peacefully. The university management in conjunction with the state police came to the aid of the students then and for 2months we didn't hear of any robbery case. But last week , another 2hostels were raided before  Wednesday night were another raid lead to our students being apprehended and matched
, no policemen came to our aid and the EFCC had just invited our VC for alleged mismanagement of funds.

On Thursday 19th, very early in the morning funaab students lead by the students Union started a protest by blocking the Funaab- alabata road that leads into the university. Shortly after then, a road blockade  was also fixed at camp, then the demands of the students union was to see the commissioner of police so as to address the issues. Hours Later, the PPro of the Ogun state command addressed the students saying they have one of the robbers at their custody, and the students demanded they want to see evidences that they have obtain one of them
The p.pro then refused. Students who were available at the protest ground demanded for the press so as to pour out their mind but none came.
Shortly after did an unidentified personality came who said he his representing the odeda local government constituency. He was coming from Ibadan alongside with his escorts
It was one of the escort who shot delibrately at our student (Taiwo Abisoye 100lv Fwm) in the eye.
Taiwo Abisoye was filled with blood and rushed quickly to the hospital
A rumour went into circulation as at then that taiwo was dead
This angered the students, and other indigenes of the area as the protest turned into violence. Cars were burnt, some vandalized, the VC church was also attacked.
Shortly after, troops of policemen arrived at the scene with their vans firing tear gas at students and bullets into the air.
Just after few hours of calming the situation , the policemen invaded the students hostels at camp and also arrested those who were innocently walking along the calmed axis. Over 50 students were arrested and conveyed to the Ogun state police headquarters (Eleweran) that day, many of which were innocent
The policemen were following the order of the CP Ogun state police command to arrest 150 students. The students who were arrested never went through thorough investigation as suspects,  they were all sent to the court the next morning
The court had place a bail of 100,000 or a collateral worth that amount and 2 sureties.
27 students were granted bail
Some of the detainees have been released after providing the necessary grants by the court

On Friday, 19th Aug

Many media houses had written another side of the story

The Pro of the Ogun state police command had said on live TV that our students attacked the policemen and two were injured (lie)

He also said taiwo abisoye was hit by a stone throw from a fellow student who was also at the protest ground (Total lie)

What we are fighting for

•Our students have been robbed of their valuables and raped as well, the police are yet to give us a report of the people behind this incessant activities.

• The students did not burn any Church as it was reported by some newspapers

• The students are demanding justice to be done to the policeman who shot Taiwo  Abisoye in the eye

• 100,000 naira bail for students  who were innocent is much

•The Government and University management should find a lasting solution to this robbery situation.

Mayowa Ahmed Of #SaveMayowa Campaign Is Dead

News reaching us is that Mayowa Ahmed of the popular SAVEMAYOWA trend has reportedly passed on.
She died after a fierce battle with ovarian
cancer which she got donation for and was supposed to fly outside Nigeria for medical treatments.
Initially, funds were being raised for her to fly abroad but things went south when popular blogger, Linda Ikeji shared via her platform that the whole fundraising was a scam, a report that made the Nigerian Police Force to intervene and freeze Mayowa’s accounts until investigations were being carried out.
The accounts were later released after it was discovered that it was legit and not a scam.
Several social media users have accused Linda for being responsible for not letting Mayowa fly out on time. See some tweets below:
