THE FULL REPORT OF THE BLACKTHURSDAY IN FUNAAB #SAVEFUNAB (PHOTOS)

Earlier yesterday at around 2am
thieves invaded Adejoke hostel and robbed them taking with them phones, laptops and other properties. It was reported that during the course of the robbery, a student was hit and severely injured with an axe. This caused students to come in hundreds going from hostel to hostel informing fellow students and recruiting them for a protest that would commence later in the day.
At around 5 am students converged at isolu with the aim of boycotting classes to sit on the main road leading to and from Funaab. This continued for quite a while with several SUG excos coming to show their support and reiterate the reason for the boycott. During this period a press release from the SUG was circulated stating that school had been closed for all academic activities including practicals and FPY.
After the boycott the  SUG moved to camp to continue the  protest blocking the federal road leading from abeokuta to Ibadan. They requested to see the commissioner of police. The police officers on ground tried to disseminate the crowd by throwing out cannisters of tear gas and sporadic shootings . It was also gathered that an 100 level student of forestry and wild life management a Mr Abisoye Taiwo was shot in the eye. In the midst of the pandemonium, the boy was rushed to Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta for immediate medical assistance contrary to earlier reports of him being dead. This enraged the already angry students at camp and they went haywire destroying cars and also vandalized the VCs church very close to camp . The police men later regrouped along side federal sas operatives and they were finally able to decimate the mob of angry students

Events at Gate
Almost simultaneously it was reported that while the students were protesting on the road leading to school an unidentified indigene was caught stealing in one of the hostels. He was beaten and brought down to the school gate by another group of students. The police tried to pacify the students and the boy was taken by the police to their station at Eleweran and normalcy returned to gate afterwards.

Normalcy has since returned to the school and it's environs yet police vans kept arresting students. Some students fled the school to their various homes. Traffic around the school has been reduced to it's barest minimum.  It has been gathered that the boy rumored dead Abisoye Taiwo is in a critical condition has been transferred to UCH for further neurosurgical treatments.
It has thereby been reported that there will not be academic activities in the school starting from today the 18th of August.
We urge everyone to stay safe
God Bless You all. Thank you and good night .
